Urmila Matondkar, a Maharashtrian girl from a middle class family stepped into filmdom as a child artist. She appeared in a number of films, the most popular being the award winning film 'Masoom' (1982). The beautiful girl with her impressive figure debuted as a heroine in the Malayalam movie 'Chanakya' (1989) and later with the Bollywood movie 'Narsimha'(1991). After a few insignificant movies, it was her magnificent performance in Ram Gopal Verma's 'Rangeela' (1995), that got her recognition as an actress. The film boosted up her career, and her sizzling and stunning looks in it made her the hottest girl on screen. She received Filmfare best supporting actress award 1999 for 'Judaai'. This skillful actress has proved her immense talent then and again in films like Satya (1998), Pinjar (2003), 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara' (2005) etc.

Urmila Matondkar started her carrier as a child artist, appeard in number of films including "Masoom" in 1982. Her first film as a lead actress was the disappointing Narsimha. With insignificant roles in few other films, her career really took a turn with "Rangeela". The credit for her being recognised as an actress goes completely to director Ram Gopal Verma. Her potential to dance and acting discovered and displayed by Verma in the film made Urmila an overnight star.
